With over 10,000 children in Washington State's care system, there is an urgent need for support and resources to help them cope with the trauma they’ve experienced. Often, when children enter foster care, it can take days or even weeks to find placement with a compassionate foster family—one that can offer them a sense of stability and normalcy. In the meantime, many of these children are left staying in hotels with social workers, which only heightens their anxiety and uncertainty.
Thankfully, there are dedicated individuals and organizations committed to stepping in and offering hope and relief. One such organization is the Bridge Receiving Center, whose mission is to provide immediate housing and compassionate care for children during their transition into foster care or adoption. Bridge Receiving Center is "a therapeutic transitional residential program where children (ages 4-18) find an immediate safe place to stay where they can begin to process their trauma while awaiting the next steps in their lives." When the organization was founded, a residential home in Snohomish County was remodeled into an open-style, home-like setting where children receive shelter, meals, clothing, tutoring, counseling, and recreation. Staff members are trained in trauma-responsive care to support each child’s unique needs. The property spans over 300 acres and shares land with Cedar Springs Camp, where children get to use the fun camp facilities part of their healing
experience.

One 15 yr old resident was quoted saying "Bridge has helped me through some tough times....I don't have to sleep outside anymore. I go to school, they buy me food I like to eat...Bridge is like a family. No one is mean. I feel supported. I feel safe."

At Security Solutions, our vision is to create a safer world. While we do this daily by designing, installing, and servicing life safety and security systems for schools, government facilities, property managers, and contractors, we are equally passionate about supporting vulnerable communities. The Bridge Receiving Center helps achieve that vision by serving some of our most at-risk children, which is why we are honored to include them in our monthly giving initiatives.
